Cabarete is a genuine international meeting place for wing foilers — sailed here on three separate trips and met riders from the US, Canada, Europe, South America, and beyond. Kite Beach is the recommended launch spot — it has the cleanest swell for winging, but know which sections to launch from and which to avoid. Local tip: Vela Watersports Center (https://velawatersportscabarete.com/), run by Jens — knowledgeable, helpful, a great guy — is a full-service shop for everything wing foiling related: gear rentals, lessons, on-site gear storage (so you don't have to haul your own gear from the hotel), and repairs. There's also a public parking lot just across the street, a couple pesos for a safe place to leave your car.
